Size and growth
Across fiscal years FY2024 to FY2026, Thai public agencies signed 1,850 e-bidding contracts for imaging equipment, worth ฿11.15bn in total, or about US$328M at ฿34 to the US dollar. The data covers purchases awarded by electronic bidding, the method Thai agencies normally use for equipment above ฿500,000: X-ray and digital radiography, fluoroscopy and C-arms, angiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine and PET, radiotherapy systems and PACS.
Spending was steady from year to year: ฿3.69bn in FY2024, ฿3.59bn in FY2025 and ฿3.86bn in FY2026, 7% more than the year before. The number of contracts fell over the same period, from 705 to 548, so the average purchase grew. FY2026 closed on 30 September 2026; contracts signed in its last weeks can still be added to the open data, so its total may rise slightly.
What is bought
Three sub-segments each take about 22% of value: nuclear medicine and radiotherapy (฿2.51bn), fluoroscopy, C-arm and angiography (฿2.50bn), and ultrasound and echocardiography (฿2.47bn). They are very different businesses. Ultrasound is the volume segment, with 968 contracts, 52% of all imaging contracts; nuclear medicine and radiotherapy reached the same value with 66.

| Award value · number of contracts | |
|---|---|
| Nuclear medicine & radiotherapy | ฿2.51bn · 66 |
| Fluoroscopy, C-arm & angiography | ฿2.50bn · 202 |
| Ultrasound & echo | ฿2.47bn · 968 |
| X-ray & digital radiography | ฿1.78bn · 448 |
| CT scanners | ฿845M · 31 |
| Mammography & bone densitometry | ฿396M · 42 |
| PACS & imaging IT | ฿327M · 54 |
| MRI | ฿214M · 3 |
| Other imaging | ฿103M · 36 |
Contract sizes follow the same split. The median imaging contract was ฿2.5M; half fell between ฿1.3M and ฿5.0M, and one in ten exceeded ฿9.7M. The median CT contract was ฿19.9M, across 31 contracts. At the top end, 11 of the 15 largest contracts were for radiotherapy machines, mostly linear accelerators, and the largest single contract was ฿219M. The 63 contracts of ฿30M or more, 3% of all contracts, carried 39% of the value; the 811 contracts under ฿2M, 44% of the total, carried 9%.
Who buys
Public hospitals account for 68% of award value. Ministry of Public Health departments, institutes and provincial health offices add 14%, and university hospitals and medical schools 7%; other university faculties, the military and police, and local government make up the rest. In all, 462 public bodies bought imaging equipment in the three years.
University hospitals usually buy under their university's name, for example Siriraj and Ramathibodi hospitals under Mahidol University, which is worth knowing when you search the records yourself.
How concentrated supply is
Of the 212 companies that won at least one imaging contract, the top 10 took 57% of value and the top 30 took 82%. Many winners are occasional: 75 companies won a single contract, and 31 won ten or more. The five largest winners by award value were:
| # | Company | Share of value | Contracts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | CMC Biotech Co., Ltd. | 9.6% | 208 |
| 2 | Innovative Imaging Systems Co., Ltd. | 7.9% | 106 |
| 3 | Kamol Sukosol Electric Co., Ltd. | 6.4% | 14 |
| 4 | Sima-Medic Co., Ltd. | 6.2% | 26 |
| 5 | Thai GL Co., Ltd. | 5.7% | 126 |
A high rank shows award value won in public e-bidding, not overall market share: private hospitals, small direct purchases and sub-distribution do not appear in these records. Some leading winners import many brands, others are regional resellers, and several are strongest in a single sub-segment, so the useful comparison for a manufacturer is usually within its own product type.
Where the buyers are
Bangkok buyers account for only 17% of award value, and 83% comes from buyers outside the capital. The Northeast is the largest region with 26%, followed by the Central region (23%), the South (12%) and the North (10%). A buyer's province is where the agency is registered, which can differ from where the equipment is installed.

Prices and timing
Most imaging projects are awarded at or just under the reference price that the agency sets before bidding: 79% landed within 1% of it, and the median project was awarded at 99.8% of its reference price. Reference prices in Thai tenders, explained with data looks at why, across all eight categories.
Over the three years, imaging contracts were most often signed in May, June and September. That pattern owes much to FY2024, when the budget arrived late; in FY2025 and FY2026 the busiest month for imaging was October. When Thai hospitals sign contracts has the calendar for every category.
What it means for a manufacturer
- Partner choice. With the top 10 holding 57% of value, a small group of distributors carries most of the public channel. Leaders bring proven tender reach; a mid-ranked winner that is strong in your sub-segment may give a new brand more attention.
- Coverage. With 83% of value outside Bangkok, ask any prospective partner about service engineers, spare parts and installed base in the regions, starting with the Northeast.
- Timing. Specifications and reference prices are built from supplier quotations months before an invitation, so registration, quotations and demonstration units need to be in place well before contracts are signed.
